Great Characters Muhammad Ali Limited Edition 1942 Fountain Pen
Inspired by the robe Ali wore when entering the legendary fight in Kinshasa, Zaire, in 1974, the precious lacquer on the cap represents this distinct pattern while the pattern on the gold-coated barrel resembles boxing tapes athletes use for wrapping their hands. The gold-coated butterfly on the cap is inspired by this typical fighting style: "Float like a Butterfly, sting like a bee". The pointed cone takes up that notion and the four lacquered lines resemble the ropes of a boxing ring. The inscriptions on the cone refer to Ali´s victory at the 1974 fight nicknamed "Rumble in the Jungle", when Ali won his second heavyweight world championship. The details of his victory, namely having won in the eighth round by technical knock-out, can be found on the cap ring. The cone also bears reference to a famous of Ali in 1975, nicknamed "Thrilla in Manila".
To celebrate his second title, the Montblanc emblem in White precious resin is adorned with a "2". To underline this success, the clip is shaped like a boxing championship belt and bears his name. The handcrafted solid Au 750 bi-color gold nib shows a boxing glove.
